American Sign Language

The purpose of ASL Club is to provide opportunities for Estrella Foothills students and staff to learn sign language, experience Deaf culture, and to show that sign language is a TRUE language.  Students or staff who are interested in sign language and the Deaf community are encouraged to join.

  1.  Teach interested students and staff American Sign Language so they can communicate with people in our community who are Deaf.
  2. Educate members about Deaf culture.
  3. Allow students to express themselves through American Sign Language and through song.
  4. Bridge the communication barriers between hearing and hard of hearing members of our community by interpreting The National Anthem at sporting events and Graduation.
  5. Teach members to interpret the meaning behind lyrics to transform a song into ASL.
  6. Participate in school and community events.
